Senior Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

About the Role

This position serves as a critical component of the Emergency Department at Parkland Hospital, located in the Main Hospital Building. As a Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years of experience, you will utilize the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Your focus will be on delivering high-acuity, bedside care to a diverse patient population ranging from trauma and toxicological injuries to complex medical conditions.

In this full-time night shift role (7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 36 hours/week), you will exercise independent judgment to assess patients, develop individualized care plans, and manage transitions through the healthcare encounter. You will serve as a patient advocate, ensuring that care respects individual rights, cultural preferences, and confidentiality while maintaining a therapeutic environment. Beyond direct patient care, you will act as a resource for the healthcare team, providing direction to non-nursing staff, serving as a preceptor for new nurses, and leading in-service educational programs.
