At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.
The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods. These are complemented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost-effective yet technically balanced solutions.
Raytheon is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department. In this role, you will act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help define and develop the MA&T department's technical processes and tools. You will be expected to work under general direction, defining the scope and level of analysis or testing required to meet objectives while remaining accountable for individual work within agreed-upon cost and schedule constraints.
You will serve as a recognized technical leader, presenting your work for peer reviews and acting as a reviewer for other engineers' work. Your customers will include internal personnel, programs, as well as external Government personnel and programs. This position requires a high degree of technical competence to solve difficult problems with imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions.
Please consider the role type definition as you apply: this position is Onsite, meaning employees will work primarily onsite as they are essential to the development of our products. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid, or remote.
RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted, though business necessity may require adjustments. Candidates must have an active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret level) on their start date, as U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility.
Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX, we value Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
RTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status, or any other applicable state or federal protected class. RTX provides affirmative action in employment for qualified Individuals with a Disability and Protected Veterans in compliance with Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act.
