Key Responsibilities
- check_circleProcess bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll across multiple states with 100% accuracy
- check_circleManage all payroll deductions including taxes, health insurance, 401k, HSA, FSA, and garnishments
- check_circleCoordinate quarterly and annual tax filings such as 941, 940, W-2, and 1099
- check_circleOwn benefits strategy and operations across health insurance, 401k, HSA, FSA, and life insurance
- check_circleManage vendor relationships, open enrollment, life events, and terminations
- check_circleReconcile benefits invoices and conduct employee benefits education
- check_circleEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- check_circleManage payroll and benefits systems administration and integrations with HRIS and accounting platforms
- check_circleRespond to employee payroll and benefits questions with professionalism and accuracy
- check_circleProvide payroll and benefits reporting to Finance for accounting and strategic planning
- check_circleDocument processes and SOPs while building dashboards to track accuracy and utilization
- check_circleSupport compensation planning and equity management initiatives
Requirements
- verified7+ years of payroll and benefits experience
- verified3+ years in a senior or specialist role
- verifiedProficiency with ADP, Workday, or Gusto
- verifiedMulti-state payroll experience (TX and CA)
- verifiedPayroll Compliance Specialist (PCS), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred
Nice to Have
Payroll Compliance Specialist (PCS), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification. Experience at a startup or high-growth company scaling from 50 to 500+ employees. Experience with equity management, stock options, and option pool administration. Familiarity with HRIS systems and integrated payroll, HR, and benefits system architecture.
