We are seeking a Senior Gas Project Engineer to serve as a strategic consultant for our existing utility clients across Central NY, Western NY, and Northwestern PA. In this hybrid role, you will act as a trusted advisor, guiding complex infrastructure projects from conception through execution. Your work will directly impact the safety and reliability of natural gas systems, ranging from main and service replacements to high-pressure upgrades and facility designs.
This position is designed for a seasoned professional who thrives in a client-facing environment. You will coordinate with diverse stakeholders to support project goals, ensuring that every deliverable meets rigorous regulatory standards and client expectations. The role blends technical engineering expertise with project management, requiring you to balance multiple assignments while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency.
Your day will likely involve a mix of office-based engineering and targeted field work. While approximately 5-10% of your workload will be dedicated to field activities—such as site visits, contractor meetings, and navigating difficult terrain—you will spend the majority of your time driving project strategy. You will produce high-quality basemaps and construction drawings, develop energization procedures, and manage inter-disciplinary projects. A significant portion of your time will be spent mentoring junior staff, setting goals, and acting as a role model for the team. You will also engage in business development and marketing activities to help grow our client relationships.
