The Senior Engineer, Planning serves as a strategic partner in assessing the long-term needs of water and wastewater utility systems. This role exists to develop project solutions that ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of services to our customers. You will act as a competent technical resource on system planning matters, guiding teams through hydraulic modeling, demand projections, asset condition assessments, and treatment strategies.
In this position, you will coordinate and prepare strategic engineering planning studies, developing detailed asset investment plans that balance cost, timing, prioritization, and risk. You will conduct system capacity evaluations to support ongoing operations, service extension requests, and regional growth opportunities. Your day-to-day involves translating technical concepts into feasible engineering approaches, establishing project budgets and scopes, and supervising consulting engineers, technicians, and CAD operators. You will also support the selection of consulting and construction organizations through negotiation or competitive selection processes.
