As part of the Employment Law Group within the Office of General Counsel, this role serves as a specialized legal partner to the Firm's partners and business leaders. You will provide strategic counsel on the entire talent lifecycle, from recruiting and hiring to partnership admission, career progression, and retirement. The position focuses on navigating complex employment and partnership matters, ensuring the Firm's strategy is supported while effectively mitigating legal risk.
In this capacity, you will oversee and strategically manage employment- and partner-related disputes across agency, arbitral, and court proceedings. Success in this role requires building trusted advisor relationships with internal clients, including Partner Affairs, Ethics & Compliance, National Benefits, People Teams, and various business leaders. You will work closely with these cross-functional stakeholders to develop independent recommendations and communicate effectively to senior leadership.
Your work will involve providing practical legal advice on complex partnership matters, employment law, regulatory issues, and business challenges, often on a time-sensitive basis. You will lead and manage disputes and pre-dispute matters to protect the Firm's interests, while overseeing investigations, policies, procedures, and agreements.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to managing multiple cases, matters, and projects simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines. You will direct and supervise both internal and external resources, including outside counsel, to deliver quality and cost-effective outcomes. This includes demonstrating thoughtful selection, instruction, and oversight of external counsel to drive value and control legal spend.
Candidates for this role should be prepared to demonstrate thought leader-level abilities in employment law. The selection process will evaluate your technical acumen, agility in adapting to evolving legal issues, and your track record of delivering practical, best-in-class legal advice. We look for individuals who can analyze complex legal and business matters and exercise sound judgment when communicating recommendations to senior stakeholders.
