The Senior Accounting position within Carolinas Accounting & Reporting supports the Controller's Department by providing accounting, financial analysis, and reporting for Duke Energy. As a fourth-level financial analyst, you will work independently with minimal guidance, serving as a resource for less experienced employees while solving complex problems.
In this role, you will interface with various departments and external stakeholders, such as E&Y, to ensure reporting compliance within GAAP and FERC rules. Your day will involve conducting complex analysis and research on ad-hoc requests to develop reporting and effectively present results for management review and decision-making. You will take ownership of high-priority regulatory matters, including rate cases and compliance with evolving accounting standards, while driving continuous process improvement efforts to streamline regulatory accounting functions.

This position operates under a Hybrid Mobility Classification, meaning work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. Employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility. While some overtime is likely, it is intended to be infrequent and align with peak workloads on the quarters and during the year-end close process.

Six or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in the related field. CPA or CPA candidate status. Graduate degree in Accounting, Business, or related fields. Previous experience in a utility or regulatory accounting environment. Familiarity with rate making revenue requirements principles. Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills, including data analytics. Experience with FERC form preparation and other regulatory filings. Public accounting or auditing experience.
