About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role works closely with finance and payroll leadership to support a broad range of accounting operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who values accuracy, enjoys variety in their work, and can manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
As a Senior Accountant, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the month-end and quarter-end close processes. You will help ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable regulations while assisting with payroll activities and financial statement preparation. This role offers the chance to contribute to the financial integrity of an organization dedicated to advancing scientific discovery.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleMaintain accounting records and transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal controls
- check_circlePrepare journal entries, monthly accruals, and account reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end close
- check_circleAssist with financial statement preparation and support annual and retirement plan audits
- check_circleReview corporate credit card activity, travel expenses, and employee reimbursements for compliance
- check_circleSupport year-end reporting including 1099 preparation and other tax-related compliance activities
- check_circleSupport semi-monthly payroll processing including preparation, manual checks, and timekeeping follow-up
- check_circlePrepare and reconcile monthly invoices related to clinical trial activity or designated programs
- check_circleRecord and reconcile cash receipts across multiple banking accounts
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- verified5+ years of accounting experience
- verifiedExperience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit support
- verifiedFamiliarity with payroll processing and time-and-attendance systems
- verifiedStrong working knowledge of GAAP and accounting controls
- verifiedExperience with ERP/accounting systems
- verifiedAdvanced proficiency with Excel
- verifiedExperience in nonprofit, research, academic, or federally funded environment (preferred)
- verifiedFamiliarity with Federal Uniform Guidance (preferred)
