The Metro Boston Area Department of Mental Health (DMH) assures and provides access to services and support to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work, and participate in their communities. As a Security Team Specialist I, you will serve as a vital link in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors at our hospital facilities. This role goes beyond traditional security; it requires a unique blend of vigilance and compassion, particularly when interacting with individuals under physical or emotional stress. You will patrol buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas to guard against trespass, theft, and fire, while also managing motor vehicle traffic and parking controls.
Your day will involve screening visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing safety protocols. You will assist in the custodial supervision of medically ill and mental health clients, escorting them to appointments and providing personal protection as needed. In emergency situations, you will be responsible for monitoring alarm systems, investigating suspicious activities, and preserving crime or fire scenes. This position demands the ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in dangerous scenarios while exercising discretion with confidential information.
