Founded in 1891 by a group of visionary volunteers, The Trustees of Reservations is the nation’s premier conservation and preservation organization. We protect properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value in Massachusetts for public use and enjoyment. Our mission is to protect special places for future generations to enjoy in perpetuity, having helped safeguard more than 50,000 acres, including over 120 reservations open to the public.
As a non-profit conservation organization, we are funded and supported entirely by our visitors, supporters, volunteers, and our 100,000 Member households. We thrive by involving as many people as possible in all that we do, ensuring our properties remain open to all.
As an Outdoor Educator, you will join the Mobile Engagement team to support The Trustees' mission of increasing conservation awareness and engagement within the southeastern Massachusetts communities of New Bedford and Fall River. This role is part of the Mobile Engagement Unit, an initiative focused on connecting urban youth with urban green space.
You will develop and implement pop-up style nature-based play, recreational, educational, and public programming. Leveraging a "food truck" model and the unique natural resources of various Trustees properties on the south coast, you will engage and inspire children to play outdoors, understand their connection to nature, develop a connection to place, and foster a lifelong love of the outdoors. Your work will involve a robust seasonal schedule of community-based events targeted to children and families, occurring both indoors and outdoors depending on weather and time of year.
