At UC Health, we are proud to have the best and brightest teams and clinicians collaborating toward our common purpose: to advance healing and reduce suffering. As the region's adult academic health system, we strive for innovation and provide world-class care not only for our local community but for patients from all over the world.
Joining our team offers the opportunity to develop your skills, grow your career, and build meaningful relationships with your peers and patients. You will help us be a source of hope for our friends and neighbors in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
This position is dedicated to the protection of UC Health associates, patients, visitors, as well as our buildings, grounds, and vehicles. You will serve as the frontline guardian of our facilities, enforcing rules and regulations to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
Your day will involve patrolling properties by foot, bike, or vehicle, responding to alarm activations, and handling radio-dispatched calls. You will act as a professional ambassador, treating all patients, visitors, and associates with fairness, courtesy, and respect. Beyond routine patrols, you will investigate and document criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents, and policy violations, ensuring all reports are clear, accurate, and professional. You will also conduct regular safety inspections of fire extinguishers and panic alarm systems, identifying and reporting potential hazards to maintain compliance with safety standards.
UC Health is committed to providing an inclusive, equitable, and diverse place of employment. In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate the ability to consider the attributes, special needs, and behaviors of the highly diverse populations we serve. This includes understanding the unique developmental, physical, psychosocial, mental, emotional, and social needs of patients and associates at all stages of life, as well as respecting diverse norms, religious preferences, and language attributes.
Candidates must be willing to obtain the IAHSS security officer certification within 12 months of employment. The role requires the ability to act under stress and maintain high moral standards while working in a variety of weather conditions.
