The Security Officer I serves as the first line of defense for the Kennedy Krieger Institute, ensuring the safety and security of patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, and visitors. This role is critical to maintaining a secure environment where individuals can access facilities with confidence. The incumbent acts as the face of security, managing building ingress and egress, verifying identification, and responding promptly to any disturbances or safety concerns.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of proactive monitoring and active engagement. You will conduct regular security rounds throughout the facility, inspecting packages entering and exiting to prevent contraband and ensure proper authorization. A significant portion of your time is spent monitoring Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and managing alarm systems. You will also serve as a guide for visitors, completing sign-in/out processes and providing escort services when necessary. Beyond physical security, you will document all suspicious activities, prepare detailed incident reports, and assist in investigations. You will also play a key role in maintaining a clean work environment and reporting any property defects or fire hazards to the appropriate authorities.
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the hiring team. The process typically includes a review of qualifications followed by an interview to assess fit and experience.
The Kennedy Krieger Institute is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or protected veteran status.
