The mission of Equitas Academy Charter Schools is to prepare students for college, careers, and life pursuits, inspiring them to be champions of equity. We currently serve over 2,000 students across six schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles. Our organization is grounded in a strong commitment to community and family engagement, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment.
We cultivate a supportive professional culture where educators receive consistent, relevant, and individualized coaching based on in-class observations. Our teams are collaborative and reflective, working together to deliver high-quality instruction while providing opportunities for professional growth and leadership, such as Grade Level Lead or Teacher Leader roles.
As an Equitas Teacher, you will lead rigorous instruction in ELA, utilizing our aligned curriculum and delivering prepared instructional materials. Your day begins with a school team huddle at 7:30 AM (middle school) or 8:10 AM (high school) and concludes after scholar dismissal at 3:30 PM or 4:10 PM, respectively. You will enjoy daily prep time and a duty-free lunch period.
You will approach class community building with culturally responsive and restorative practices, demonstrating a "warm demander" style with scholars. Your responsibilities include communicating with families regarding student progress, supervising weekly Community Meetings, and attending IEP, SST, and 504 meetings as scheduled. You will also engage in active participation in weekly professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics.
Equitas Academy is actively seeking to build a diverse and experienced team of educators. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, gender identity, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin. We are an equal opportunity employer.
We believe in people and their potential, supporting individual growth throughout your career. If you are wondering if you have what it takes to be a successful teacher here, remember that there is no such thing as a "perfect" candidate. We encourage you to bring your questions and learn more about us throughout the interview process. We hope you will give us, and yourself, a chance and submit an application!
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
