About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, safety-minded, and motivated Saw Filer to join our team in Thomaston, Georgia. This Night Shift position is critical to maintaining the performance and precision of saws and related equipment, ensuring safe and efficient mill operations.
In this role, you will be the guardian of our cutting edge. Your day will involve a blend of precision craftsmanship and mechanical expertise, from leveling and tensioning saws to repairing blades according to strict customer and manufacturer specifications. You will operate a variety of sharpening machines and hand tools, performing tasks such as grinding band wheels, braze-welding cracks, and straightening twists in blades. Beyond the technical work, a demonstrated commitment to safety is paramount; you will adhere to all regulations, including lockout/tag-out procedures, while navigating varying seasonal climate conditions within the facility.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleLevel and tension saws to ensure precision
- check_circleSharpen saws and operate sharpening machines
- check_circleExamine saws for defects and cut broken teeth
- check_circleBraze or weld cracks in saw blades and form teeth by beveling joints
- check_circleAdjust cutting width of teeth using swage or special pliers
- check_circlePerform preventive maintenance on machinery and change saws and guides
- check_circleGrind knives for all machines that require them
- check_circleRepair saw blades using hand tools, welding equipment, and machine tools
- check_circleStraighten twists and kinks in blades using straightening press and hammers
- check_circleCompute number and angle of teeth to produce specified cuts
- check_circleClamp blades in saw-filing machines and adjust distance, angle, and depth
- check_circleAdhere to safety regulations including lockout/tag-out procedures
