About the Role
As an SAP BASIS Consultant, you will serve as a critical guardian of system integrity and performance. Your primary mission is to ensure the SAP landscape functions seamlessly for end users by proactively managing the underlying infrastructure. This role is designed for a technical expert who thrives on troubleshooting complex errors, optimizing system logs, and executing strategic upgrades that keep the business moving forward without interruption.
In this position, you will balance reactive problem-solving with proactive planning. Your day-to-day involves reviewing system logs to identify and resolve errors, while carefully scheduling background jobs during periods of low user demand to maximize efficiency. You will also be responsible for verifying user operations, managing lock tables, and handling failed updates to maintain data consistency.
Beyond daily maintenance, you will play a key role in major projects, specifically planning and executing system upgrades and migrations. This requires a deep understanding of long-term trends to anticipate needs before they impact users. Your responsibilities extend to preventive maintenance activities, including Support Pack and Plug-in implementations, Kernel upgrades, applying OSS notes, and managing Java support packs via JSPM. Additionally, you will distribute online user workloads and monitor the overall background job environment to ensure optimal resource allocation.
Qualifications & Team Context
We are seeking a consultant with solid implementation experience and a strong command of SAP BASIS technologies. While technical proficiency is paramount, this role also demands excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and guide teams through complex technical landscapes. Prior experience leading implementation teams is highly desirable, as you will often be at the helm of critical infrastructure projects.
