The Brazos River Authority (BRA) was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 to develop, manage, and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, the BRA staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
The BRA is looking for dedicated individuals who are team and customer-focused, perform their jobs ethically and with integrity, are adaptable, embrace diversity, and seek innovative ways to conduct business. We are committed to the mission and goals of the BRA and offer a culture where employees have a desire to grow with a great organization.
As a Sandblaster Foreman for the River Structure Maintenance Unit (RSMU) at Possum Kingdom Lake, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation and extended life of BRA dam flood gates and infrastructure. This safety-sensitive position involves supervising, mentoring, and training less experienced personnel while scheduling and prioritizing work to maintain critical assets.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing blasting and coating projects, operating metalizing machines, and applying protective coatings for gate replacements. You will also assist welders with arc gouging, operate heavy equipment and supply boats, perform scuba work, and handle various maintenance tasks such as concrete work, mowing, and operating chain saws and jackhammers. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of MSDS systems, compressors, air dryers, and the chemical characteristics of two-part coatings.
All applicants, including current employees, must submit an online Application for Employment via the Brazos River Authority website at www.brazos.org. This position is open until filled.
The Brazos River Authority is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.

The Brazos River Authority operates within the environmental services sector, headquartered in Waco, Texas. Established by the Texas Legislature in 1929, it holds the distinction of being the first government entity in the United States created specifically to develop and manage water resources for an entire river basin. The organization serves communities throughout its designated basin by developing and distributing water supplies, providing water and wastewater treatment, monitoring water quality, and promoting conservation through public education initiatives.
With a workforce exceeding 250 employees, the Brazos River Authority maintains and operates reservoirs and treatment systems. Unlike many public agencies, it is entirely self-supporting and does not levy or collect taxes. Operational costs are covered through revenues generated from the customers it serves, with occasional governmental grants assisting with specific project expenses. This financial model allows the entity to focus on sustainable water management and infrastructure reliability for the region it supports.
