This position serves as a Salesforce Public Sector Solutions Applications Developer within the Information Technology Division of the Arizona Department of Water Resources (AZDWR). The role is a repost of a previous opening, specifically seeking a candidate with enhanced hands-on development experience to drive the agency's digital transformation.
The primary mission of this role is to ensure the development of high-quality software by adhering to best practices in architecture, coding, and development processes. You will act as a bridge between technical execution and business needs, collaborating closely with Business Analysts and functional users to define requirements, deliver customizations, and maintain critical applications. The position plays a key part in establishing and supporting application development and test environments to meet strict state and agency requirements.
As a hybrid team member, you will work both in the office at 1110 West Washington, Phoenix, AZ, and remotely. This flexibility supports a collaborative environment where you will participate in cross-functional teams to plan, design, and implement new applications. Your work will directly impact the Department by identifying, designing, and deploying technology solutions that establish key business capabilities and drive operational improvements.
In this capacity, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining applications across multiple platforms, including Salesforce, MuleSoft, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle. A significant portion of your time will involve performing deep-dive analysis and reverse engineering of existing codebases to apply fixes and develop necessary changes.
You will engage in the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation. This includes ensuring that existing interfaces and programs comply with evolving technology directives, department statutes, regulations, and rules. You will also be tasked with writing technical documentation on application specifications and maintaining effective working relationships to continuously improve the agency's systems.
This is a local-only opportunity. Candidates must be currently located in the Phoenix area and able to attend in-person interviews within one week of the posting close date. Resumes must explicitly state the candidate's current location; applications without this information will not be considered.
The tentative start date is contingent upon the completion of interviews, successful onboarding, and the issuance of a purchase order by the state agency. Selected candidates must be available to start within two weeks of receiving an offer.
Important Eligibility Note: Candidates who hold a visa or are visa-eligible are not eligible for this position.
The Arizona Department of Water Resources is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that all candidates bring to the team. While specific diversity statements are not detailed in this posting, the agency operates under standard state employment principles that prioritize merit and equal opportunity for all qualified applicants.
