As an RN OR Scheduler at Medical City Dallas, you will join a dynamic interdisciplinary team comprising providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists. This role is designed for those passionate about the patient experience and eager to contribute to surgical workflow efficiency and patient safety.
You will serve as an integral member of the operating room, evaluating patients prior to surgery and assuming responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification. Your day will involve providing patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process, as well as assessing and monitoring patient conditions throughout your shift. You will participate in critical safety protocols, including surgical site verification briefings, time-outs, and debriefs, while remaining ready to recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
Beyond direct patient care, you will engage in continuous improvement initiatives, rounding with unit leaders and charge nurses to ensure your voice is heard regarding suggestions for patient care and workflow enhancements. You will have the opportunity to work with predictable scheduling posted four weeks in advance, though on-call availability during select non-business hours is required.
