About the Role

The 6 East and 6 West Child Unit is a 21-bed secured psychiatric unit located at the CHA Somerville Campus, providing care for children between the ages of 3 and 11. This unit is part of CHA's recently opened new inpatient center for youth with acute behavioral health needs, which also serves adolescents (13-17) and children with neuro-developmental disorders. The new facility offers a transformative continuum of patient and family-centered care for diverse youth with mental health needs.

Our approach is trauma-informed, patient and family-centered, and evidence-based. We utilize a multi-disciplinary approach to provide comprehensive care, with a continued emphasis on restraint reduction. The treatment focus is on assessment, stabilization, and after-care treatment planning. As a Registered Nurse on this team, you will join a group of professionals who believe in where they work and go home every day knowing they made a difference.
