As a Nurse at CHRISTUS Health, you will practice independently within a clinical setting, demonstrating a comprehensive awareness of complex patient situations. This role is designed for professionals who can manage long-range care goals while effectively coping with and navigating clinical contingencies. You will be responsible for making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Aligned with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, you will utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to deliver both routine and complex care. Your responsibilities extend beyond physical care to addressing the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. You will administer medications and treatments according to protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness, while documenting patient history and care provided. Additionally, you will assess learning needs and provide essential education to patients, family members, and caregivers.

Whether you are an experienced professional or a new graduate, you will join a team dedicated to high-quality critical care and patient advocacy.
All newly hired experienced RNs are required to attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated, trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements are validated through the successful completion of the organizational entry competency validation and a Critical Care Department-specific competency validation. All associates must also complete annual competency verification requirements.
In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all associates are required to obtain necessary certifications within designated time frames. Grace periods vary based on experience level:
Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
New Graduates & Experienced Associates New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years):
