About the Team

The Maternity Suite at Cambridge Hospital is a beautiful unit with lovely views of downtown Boston and Harvard Square. It includes a Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit and a Postpartum Unit, helping more than 1,100 growing families every year. The 7-bed labor unit features 3 triage bays and 2 ORs, while the Postpartum Unit consists of 12 private rooms with a Level 1b continuing care nursery.

We are proud of our multidisciplinary patient care, our culturally sensitive approach to labor and delivery, and some of the lowest C-section rates in Massachusetts. The unit fosters a culturally sensitive approach to couplet care and early family bonding, providing care for mothers and infants from birth through the early stages of postpartum to discharge.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the McGovern Maternity Unit, you will provide ongoing assessment and care of the mother through the antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. You will also care for the mother and newborn according to established guidelines, providing education from antenatal to the immediate postpartum period. Your role includes orchestrating and initiating discharge planning and follow-up care for both mother and newborn.

You will participate in ongoing labor and delivery unit-based quality initiatives and maintain clinical practice in accordance with AWHONN, ACOG, NRP, and AAP established guidelines. This is a full-time, night shift position (7pm-7am) with rotating weekends and holidays, working 36 hours per week.
