This Registered Nurse position is based at UCHealth Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs, serving the Medical Surgical North department. The role operates within a 24/7 acute care environment, providing direct patient care at a proficient level using the nursing process. The position requires adherence to applicable scope and standards of practice, as well as the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
The day-to-day responsibilities involve planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans based on assessments to optimize outcomes and maximize resources. Nurses in this role monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to a multidisciplinary care team, collaborating across disciplines to coordinate care, including transfers, discharges, and referrals. The role also includes evaluating learning needs to provide patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances, as well as delegating care to ancillary personnel. Success in this fast-paced environment requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
This is an onsite role with no hybrid or remote options. The schedule is full-time, covering 72 hours per pay period (2 weeks) on the night shift.
