We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Rigging department located in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves the fabrication, installation, and repair of rigging and weight handling gear on ships. Riggers are essential to the daily operations of moving heavy loads, positioning machinery, and assisting with dry docking operations.
The work environment is dynamic and physically demanding. Riggers may be required to work in engine rooms, boiler rooms, aloft, or in confined spaces. The position involves selecting and attaching various gear such as chainfalls, jacks, rollers, and pulleys to move loads safely. Riggers must also signal cranes, control equipment movement through narrow openings, and handle lines on cleats or bollards. The role spans four journeyman levels (1 through 4), with responsibilities scaling from assisting with basic tasks to independently managing complex rigging operations and heavy equipment movement.
