This position is critical for the safe and efficient movement of materials within the shipyard and onto vessels. The Rigger serves as the primary link between ground operations and heavy machinery, ensuring that cargo booms, elevators, and other equipment are rigged, tested, and installed correctly. You will be responsible for selecting the appropriate cables, ropes, pulleys, and winches based on the weight, distribution, and size of the load.
In this role, you will convey precise instructions to crane operators and forklift drivers using hand signals, loudspeakers, or telephone to guide the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings and confined spaces. The work involves frequent physical activity, including climbing scaffolds, crawling through small openings, and handling heavy rigging gear in environments exposed to noise, fumes, and moving machinery.
