Join the growing BILH team, where you are not just taking a job, but making a difference in people's lives. The Respiratory Care Department at BIDMC consists of approximately 60 Registered Respiratory Therapists dedicated to the management of mechanical ventilation for the critically ill. Our team provides coverage across nine adult ICUs, an active Emergency Department, the Cath Lab, and acute care floors. We are proud to host several ECMO Specialists and are excited to expand this program with new training opportunities.
BIDMC's affiliation with the Harvard School of Medicine ensures our therapists are intimately involved in mentoring physicians in training and delivering state-of-the-art respiratory care. Our team plays an integral role in various studies currently underway in our intensive care units, fostering a culture of innovation and mentorship.
This position operates on a 7pm-7am shift schedule. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assume primary responsibility for patient care, including examination, evaluation, treatment planning, and the administration of respiratory care procedures in response to physician orders. You will assess patient conditions based on medical history and diagnostic findings, developing and modifying respiratory care plans while making specific recommendations to physicians.
Beyond direct patient care, you will serve as a role model for respiratory care students and other members of the healthcare team. When no management team member is physically present, you will function as the Team Leader for your shift. You will also participate in internal and external educational meetings to maintain clinical competence and contribute to the department's performance improvement activities by applying clinical research findings to enhance the quality of care.
