As an Advanced Respiratory Therapist at VCUHS, you will provide safe and effective respiratory care across the entire lifespan—from neonates to geriatric patients. This role is designed to serve as a vital clinical resource and educator for patients, families, and the broader healthcare team. You will function as a shift team leader in the absence of a supervisor, ensuring seamless operations and high standards of care.
Your day-to-day involves initiating, monitoring, and maintaining mechanical ventilation (including CPAP and BiPAP) while performing complex respiratory care modalities such as airway clearance, inhaled medications, and tracheostomy care. You will also assist with diagnostic procedures like blood gas analysis and bronchoscopy, utilizing your clinical judgment to assess the effects of all therapies and interventions. Whether supporting labor and delivery, managing external critical care transports for neonatal and pediatric patients, or leading a shift, your focus remains on delivering equitable, evidence-based care aligned with hospital protocols and clinical practice guidelines.

Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program. Current ACLS/PALS certification. Previous affiliation or work experience in a similar practice setting.
