We are seeking an advanced Respiratory Therapist to provide safe and effective care across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatric patients. This role is designed to serve as a vital clinical resource and educator for patients, families, and the broader hospital community. You will function as a key member of the respiratory care team, ensuring high standards of patient safety while supporting the mission of VCUHS.
In this position, you will manage complex mechanical ventilation, perform critical respiratory assessments, and lead educational initiatives for staff and students. Depending on your assignment, you may also support labor and delivery or manage external critical care transports for neonatal and pediatric patients. The role offers the opportunity to function as a shift team leader in the absence of a supervisor, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
This position operates in a dynamic, high-acuity setting where periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads are common. You will work in environments that may include high noise levels, bright lights, and exposure to hazardous substances or infectious materials. The role requires adaptability to a fast-paced atmosphere with frequent interruptions and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Shift work, including weekends and holidays, may be required depending on the specific assignment.
To apply, please ensure you meet the required licensure and certification standards, including Virginia state licensure and current registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). New hires on or after January 1, 2015, must hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
Signing Bonus: Up to $20,000 signing bonus for offers accepted by June 30, 2026. Terms and conditions apply.
