Externs play a supportive role in the delivery of patient care, assisting with limited, low-risk respiratory therapy procedures. The position focuses on gathering patient information, monitoring therapy activities, and maintaining accurate medical records. Externs are integral to the daily workflow, handling the setup, cleaning, maintenance, and transportation of essential respiratory therapy equipment.
This role is performed in a healthcare setting where exposure to chemicals used in patient care may occur. The physical demands of the job include the ability to lift, push, pull, and position patients or equipment. The work requires frequent reaching, sitting, walking, and standing, utilizing standard mobility and handling skills for everyday objects and materials.
