About the Role
This Respiratory Therapist position serves as a vital resource within the Respiratory Care Services department, performing, evaluating, and coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations. You will work across intermediate, intensive, and emergency care areas, executing physician orders with a focus on efficiency and quality of care.
Beyond direct patient care, this role involves active collaboration with the unit leadership to develop goals, review operating policies, and enhance the patient plan of care. You will act as a mentor and resource for departmental staff, assisting in the orientation of new employees and providing timely feedback to leadership to support team growth.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a regular, full-time position located at Avera St Mary's Hospital in the United States. The role operates on a Day Shift schedule, specifically structured as three 8-hour days and one 12-hour day from Monday through Thursday.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleAdminister respiratory therapeutics including aerosol therapy, O2 management, and bronchoscopies
- check_circleServe as a resource to Respiratory Department employees and assist with new staff orientation
- check_circleCommunicate frequently with staff and report feedback to the department leader
- check_circlePerform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients
- check_circleReview patient plans of care with caregivers to suggest interventions for quality improvement
- check_circleAssist with out-of-house patient transports as required
- check_circleAssist with developing unit goals, objectives, and operating policies and procedures
Requirements
- verifiedAssociate's degree
- verifiedActive Respiratory Therapist license in state of practice
- verifiedRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
- verifiedCertified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree. 1-3 years of general respiratory therapist experience and critical care experience.
