The Residential Program Worker (RPW) at Oak Hill's Torrington location serves as a vital support system for individuals with disabilities, working directly within their homes and communities. This role is designed for those with no prior experience who are eager to enter the direct care field, as well as individuals seeking a meaningful career change. The position focuses on empowering participants by providing personalized services tailored to their unique goals, including personal care, domestic household assistance, and support for medical and vocational appointments.
As an RPW, you will facilitate the development of self-help and daily living skills, ensuring participants maintain their cleanliness, comfort, and well-being. Your day-to-day involves guiding participants through personal hygiene tasks, administering medications, and documenting health observations to address any changes in behavior or physical appearance promptly. You will also apply Emergency First Aid and CPR procedures to ensure safety while strictly maintaining the confidentiality of all participant information.
This is a union position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, specifically scheduled from Sunday to Wednesday, 11:00 PM to 9:00 AM. To be eligible for this role, candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and possess a valid driver's license. Please note that due to the specific needs of this program, only female candidates will be considered for this position.
