About the Role
The Relief Operator (RO) III – Powders serves as a critical pillar in the safe, efficient, and sanitary operation of our lactose and whey protein concentrate (WPC) processing facilities. This role is designed to ensure consistent product quality by actively monitoring complex processing parameters, adjusting controls in real-time, and executing routine maintenance and sanitation tasks. Operating within a dynamic environment, the RO III acts as a guardian of regulatory compliance and production continuity, ensuring that every batch meets the highest standards of food safety and quality.
As a senior operator, you will not only manage the day-to-day functions of separators, heat treatment systems, filtration units, crystallizers, decanters, dryers, and evaporators but also serve as a mentor to newer team members. Your expertise in troubleshooting operational issues and performing autonomous maintenance ensures that the Crescent City Creamery runs smoothly, minimizing downtime and maximizing output.

Work Environment
This is an onsite position located at our Crescent City Creamery in Crescent City, CA. The work environment is characterized by the unique demands of food manufacturing, often exposing team members to extreme heat, wet and humid conditions, and occasional outdoor weather. The role involves navigating moving mechanical parts, high catwalks, and dryer chambers, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of ear protection due to high noise levels and PPE for handling toxic or caustic chemicals.
Hiring Process & Application
Candidates selected for this role will be required to obtain a High Temperature Short Time (HTST) Operator license within nine months of hire and a Bulk Milk Weigher / Sampler License. Successful applicants will join a team that values internal growth, with opportunities to train new members and participate in continuous improvement projects.
