About the Role
As a Relief Driver- CDL (B), you will be the face of Republic Services in your local community, responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services. This role is critical to our mission of delivering on our vision to partner with customers to create a more sustainable world.
Your day involves safely operating a heavy truck along a designated route, reading route sheets, and servicing customers as identified or assigned by dispatch. You will operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility. Beyond driving, you are responsible for ensuring your vehicle is in compliance with safety standards by completing daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) and performing pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
You will interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner. This includes identifying unsatisfactory waste containers, monitoring for unacceptable waste, and cleaning up any accidental spills in adherence to safety policies. You will actively participate in the Company's ReSOP program and maintain adherence to required productivity standards to ensure efficient service.
