At St. David's Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, we are dedicated to giving back to our communities. Last year, our colleagues invested over 156,000 hours volunteering, reflecting our core mission to raise the bar in patient care. As a Magnet® hospital, we hold the highest distinction for nursing practice and quality patient care, recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. HCA Healthcare has also been named one of the World's Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute more than ten times.
St. David's Medical Center is a comprehensive facility located in Central Austin, featuring a 371-bed acute care hospital and a 64-bed rehabilitation hospital. We are home to the region's largest Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a renowned Level IV maternity unit, and a high-risk maternal and neonatal transport team. Our facility also houses the esteemed Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and a comprehensive stroke center.
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (Neonate), you will be an integral part of our team, administering respiratory care to patients as ordered by attending physicians. Your role involves conducting diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to therapy, ensuring the highest standards of care for our neonatal patients.
You will work in a dynamic environment where you initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanically ventilated patients, assist with artificial airway placement, and manage ECMO as appropriate. A significant part of your day will involve responding immediately to emergency codes, managing airways and external compressions, and handling emergent situations such as Rapid Response, Stroke Alerts, and Trauma Alerts. You will also perform noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests, including arterial blood gas sampling and pulmonary function tests, while ensuring all equipment is cleaned, calibrated, and maintained to manufacturer specifications.
Beyond clinical duties, you will instruct patients and family members on proper respiratory therapy methods and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless care. Your work directly supports our commitment to treating high-acuity surgical patients and providing a full spectrum of women's and neonatal services.
HCA Healthcare believes there is so much good to do in the world and so many different ways to do it. We are looking for qualified candidates to help us continue this legacy of excellence. If you are ready to be part of an organization that invests in its colleagues and the communities we serve, we encourage you to submit your application.
