This position serves as a Registered Respiratory Therapist within the Pulmonary Care department, primarily supporting Medical-Surgical units. The role is dedicated to performing all respiratory therapy patient modalities prescribed under a physician's order, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective care with a strong focus on customer service.
In this capacity, you will act as a vital link between the medical team, patients, and their families. Your day involves assessing patient clinical conditions, documenting findings accurately, and serving as a patient advocate and educator. You will provide families with updates on the Plan of Care, including medication details and side effects, while effectively communicating complex medical information.
The role requires active participation in the medical team's rounds to discuss new and follow-up cases, as well as leading the hand-off process using SBAR protocols to ensure seamless care transitions. You will also serve as a critical backup for emergency codes, including blue, rapid response, and code orange situations.
Our team is committed to delivering safe patient care through strict adherence to infection control standards and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. We are dedicated to continuous improvement, actively participating in Lean initiatives to assess and enhance processes. This mission drives us to identify opportunities for higher quality care and better resource utilization.
Candidates must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license issued by the state of Florida and be certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). While an Associate degree in respiratory care is preferred, the essential requirement is the ability to maintain active and in-good-standing certifications for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP within 30 days of hire.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We value the unique perspectives that candidates with knowledge of Spanish or Creole bring to our patient care team, alongside our commitment to hiring based on merit and ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
