About the Team
Our Medical Intensive Care Unit-3 (MICU-3) is a dynamic 16-bed unit dedicated to caring for the most critically ill adult patients across the West Alabama region. Our environment is upbeat yet challenging, defined by a strong culture of team collaboration among nurses, Intensivists, and multiple ancillary departments. This multidisciplinary approach is demonstrated daily through our rounds, where Intensivists provide 24/7 coverage to manage complex cases including Acute Respiratory Failure, ARDS, Sepsis, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Hypertensive Crisis, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, and post-Cardiac Arrest requiring Targeted Temperature Management.
The unit's unique breadth of patient variety fosters the development of advanced critical thinking and a diverse range of intensive care assessment skills. We are committed to maintaining high standards of professional nursing practice, ensuring safety for patients, visitors, and employees while fostering positive therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
