The Vascular Access team at UVMMC is a highly skilled group of nursing professionals who provide a key clinical service to our patients. We are highly valued by the staff nurses whom we support and partner with. Our team brings significant depth of experience and a strong commitment to providing quality, family-centered care to all patients and their families.
This role serves as a specialized clinical resource for vascular access across the continuum of care, from pediatric to adult patients. You will be the go-to expert for staff nurses regarding vascular access devices and complications. Your day will involve inserting peripheral intravenous catheters and PICCs using advanced visualization devices, including ultrasound, as well as managing complex clinical interventions such as clearing occluded catheters and managing skin issues through specialized dressing protocols. Beyond direct patient care, you will drive unit-based education and participate in quality and process improvement projects to elevate our standards of care.
Located in Burlington, the cultural hub of Vermont, you will find all the amenities of a vibrant small city alongside the best skiing and riding in the east, with six ski resorts within an hour of downtown. Burlington is a robust hub for food and music, offering entertainment options for all ages. Designated the "Healthiest City in the USA" by the CDC, it ranks highest in exercise and among the lowest in obesity, diabetes, and other indicators of ill health.
We offer a quality of life that is second to none. With exciting signing incentives and relocation assistance, moving to Vermont has never been an easier decision. Whether you are looking for Nordic skiing, mountain biking, or backcountry touring, everyone can find what they need to unwind here.
Joining our team means becoming part of a culture unlike what you'll find at other hospitals. We ensure our nurses are truly happy and feel valued, offering structured preceptorships and continuing education to encourage professional growth. We are committed to maintaining great patient ratios and have made significant investments in safe patient handling and mobility equipment. Most importantly, nurses truly have a voice here through our shared governance model.
