About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse Trauma Spine to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this fast-paced acute care environment, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to trauma and spine patients. This role exists to ensure high-quality outcomes for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions through thorough assessments, individualized care planning, and rapid decision-making.
As a key clinical resource, you will serve patients and families by offering clear education on diagnoses, surgical procedures, rehabilitation expectations, and discharge plans. You will advocate for patient needs throughout the continuum of care, collaborating closely with physicians, surgeons, therapists, and support staff to coordinate safe transitions and support evidence-based protocols.

Working alongside experienced clinicians, you will participate in rounds, contribute to quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, and mentor less experienced staff. The role requires comfort with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 patient care. Key Responsibilities
- check_circleProvide comprehensive nursing care for trauma and spine patients in an acute care setting
- check_circlePerform ongoing patient assessments including neurologic, pain, and mobility evaluations
- check_circleDevelop, implement, and update individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team
- check_circleAdminister medications and treatments while monitoring for therapeutic and adverse responses
- check_circleProvide pre- and post-operative care including wound care, drain management, and mobilization support
- check_circleEducate patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, pain management, and discharge plans
- check_circleCollaborate with physicians and therapists to coordinate safe transitions of care
- check_circleParticipate in trauma protocols and rapid response interventions using clinical judgment

Requirements
- verifiedCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
- verifiedBasic Life Support (BLS) certification
- verifiedAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- verifiedTrauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
- verifiedOrthopaedic/Spine or Trauma Nursing certification (e.g., TCRN, ONC) preferred
Nice to Have
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification or obtained after hire. Orthopaedic/Spine or Trauma Nursing certification (e.g., TCRN, ONC).
