The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a vital pillar of the Health and Wellness Program, dedicated to helping students overcome barriers to employability through comprehensive care. Operating within the framework of Job Corps Federal Regulations and state laws, this role blends clinical expertise with a mission to support the unique needs of the student population.
In this position, you will provide assessment, treatment, and emergency care while managing case management duties. The RN acts as a health educator and wellness trainer, fostering professional relationships with both staff and students. Beyond clinical duties, the role offers the opportunity to serve as the acting Health and Wellness Manager in the absence of the primary manager, ensuring continuity of care and leadership.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of direct patient care and administrative coordination. You will conduct health evaluations, triage acute issues, and manage chronic care through individualized health plans. A significant portion of your time will be spent administering medications, immunizations, and routine nursing care, while monitoring treatment effectiveness and reporting any adverse reactions.
Collaboration is key to this role. You will work closely with counselors, residential staff, and instructors to create a supportive environment for student health. Additionally, you will coordinate medical appointments and referrals, manage medical supplies and inventory, and maintain accurate medical records to ensure full compliance with program requirements. You will also actively participate in Wellness, SART, and HEALS committees, contributing to staff training and leadership activities.
Candidates must hold an active, unrestricted nursing license in the state where the Center is located. While one year of nursing experience and prior Job Corps experience are preferred, the primary focus is on sound nursing techniques and the ability to relate effectively to the student population. CPR certification is required.
We are committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
