Johnston-Willis Hospital has provided quality healthcare services since 1909. With more than a century of pioneering healthcare, our 290+ bed hospital is a leading acute care facility for Greater Richmond and the Tri-Cities area. We offer a full range of healthcare services, including specialties in cancer care and neuroscience at our first-in-Richmond Neuroscience and Gamma Knife Center. As a PACU Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in the immediate post-operative care of surgical patients. You will manage airway support, closely monitor neurological and cardiac status, and respond promptly to any complications or side effects. This role involves providing initial wound care to surgical sites and ensuring patient stability during recovery while collaborating with the surgical and anesthesia team.
You will be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, applying the nursing process, critical thinking, and scientific judgment to independently deliver safe nursing care. Your day will involve assessing patient conditions, monitoring throughout your shift, documenting changes thoroughly, and educating patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up measures.
We foster a supportive, visible leadership culture that promotes a collaborative and respectful environment where nurses are empowered to ask questions, seek help, and provide valuable input. You will have access to staffing support from Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Techs, Charge Nurses, and an internal RN float pool. Additionally, you will participate in rounding with unit leaders to ensure your voice is heard regarding suggestions for patient care.
