About the Role
This position is dedicated to providing essential nursing care to patients in a correctional facility environment. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering timely nursing care, including administering prescribed medications, treatments, and emergency first aid. The role requires close collaboration with practitioners to obtain orders and coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment.
In this capacity, you will triage patient intake screenings, collect and record vital signs and diagnostic data, and maintain accurate records for statistical reporting and outcome studies. A key aspect of the role involves providing patient education on facility policies and discharge planning while ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques, infection control precautions, and HIPAA practices.
You will also serve as a resource for the team, potentially acting as a back-up to the Site Manager, training new hires, and participating in in-service education sessions. The role may require covering shifts at multiple facilities and recommending improvements to procedures, equipment, and supplies.
