Memorial Health University Medical Center has provided quality healthcare services since 1955. As a 600+ bed hospital and one of the region's leading acute care facilities, we serve 35 counties across southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. We are a regional referral center for heart care, cancer care, trauma care, children's care, high-risk pregnancies, and high-risk newborn care. Our campus includes the region's only Level I trauma center and children's hospital, as well as the Savannah campus of Mercer University School of Medicine.
As a national learning health system, we are transforming care delivery, advancing clinical outcomes, and empowering our nursing teams. Our stroke response times are nearly half of the national average, and we utilize cutting-edge SPOT Technology that detects sepsis earlier than the human eye. Additionally, our Enhanced Surgical Recovery program reduces opioid prescriptions and post-surgical readmissions.
At Memorial Health, our "care like family" culture extends to our patients, our people, and our community. We are committed to each other because when we join together, our patients are cared for in the safest and most compassionate way. HCA Healthcare has been recognized as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute more than ten times.
At Memorial Health University Medical Center, our nurses play a vital part. We know that every nurse's path and purpose is unique. This Registered Nurse Operating Room opportunity is designed for those who want to create their own personal career path in nursing. Our scale makes it possible for nurses to create the career path that fits their life and empowers their passion for patient care.
In this role, you will be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, working alongside providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists. You will evaluate patients prior to surgery, provide education to patients and families regarding the procedure and peri-operative process, and assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy and surgical site verification. Your day will involve participating in surgical site verification protocols, recognizing and responding to patient emergencies, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. You will consistently apply critical thinking and scientific judgment to independently deliver safe nursing care, assessing patient conditions, monitoring throughout your shift, and documenting changes thoroughly.
We foster a culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff. You will have the opportunity to round with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvement. We also provide continuous investment in equipment, including surgical instruments and devices, to ensure you can do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating Room.
