This position is designed for a competent Nurse practicing independently within a clinical setting, capable of managing both routine and complex care scenarios. The role requires a proactive approach to long-range planning and the ability to effectively cope with and manage clinical contingencies. As a key member of the team, you will make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Aligned with the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, you will serve as a Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, you will utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to address the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
Your daily responsibilities include administering medications and treatments using appropriate protocols while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. You will document patient history, symptoms, and care provided, while simultaneously assessing learning needs to educate patients, family members, and caregivers. This role demands a high level of awareness regarding all relevant aspects of a clinical situation to provide safe, high-quality care.
Newly hired experienced RNs are required to attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. You will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with initial onboarding validated through the successful completion of organizational entry competency validation and a Pediatric Services-specific competency validation. All associates must also complete annual competency verification requirements.
In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, required certifications must be obtained within designated time frames based on your experience level:
Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years):
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required at the time of hire with no grace period; AHA or Red Cross certifications are accepted.
Multiple shifts are available for this full-time position.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
