About the Role

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) in the GI Endoscopy practice on Gonda 9 South provides direct patient care for adult patients in the outpatient setting. This fast-paced environment requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to function autonomously while managing multiple tasks.

You will work across all three direct patient care phases:

• Pre-Procedure (Intake): Complete a GI-focused history and patient assessment prior to the endoscopy. You will review medical history, current medication lists, and allergies to ensure patient safety and provide education regarding the procedure.
• Intra-Procedure: Review the assessment gathered by the Intake RN and provide moderate sedation under the direction of the Physician. You will be responsible for physiologic monitoring and airway management of the sedated patient.
• Post-Procedure (Recovery): Monitor patients post-sedation, continuing physiologic monitoring until the patient meets discharge criteria.

As an RN, you will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. You will support professional nursing practice across the continuum of care, providing leadership through preceptor roles, quality improvement efforts, and mentoring. All RNs in this role are trained to interpret ECG rhythms and are expected to attain ACLS certification within their first 3-6 months of employment.
