As a full-service hospital with over 320 beds and a team of more than 500 physicians representing 35+ specialties, we are part of HCA Healthcare, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services. Our Emergency Room operates as a Level III Trauma Center, with extended services through three remote ERs in McAllen/Mission, Edinburg, and San Juan. We are proud to house an entire children's hospital within our main facility and partner with the Texas Transplant Institute to serve local patients in need of organ, tissue, or stem cell transplants.
HCA Healthcare has been recognized as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute more than ten times. In recent years, we have spent an estimated $3.7 billion on charitable care, uninsured discounts, and other uncompensated expenses. Our commitment to the care and improvement of human life is driven by our multi-generational nursing family, where nurses have a voice through professional practice councils, advisory councils, and vital voices surveys.
As a Registered Nurse in our Free Standing Emergency Room, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care consistent with the scope and standards of practice for your state and specialty. You will serve as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, modeling a commitment to our organization's vision and values to support an unparalleled patient experience. Working in collaboration with medical providers and the care team, you will provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."
Your day will involve assessing patient pain regularly to promote effective management, performing procedures and monitoring as ordered, and responding promptly to patient requests. You will translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding, teaching patients and families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle changes to prepare them for future self-management.
