CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline is the region's largest and foremost acute care medical facility, overlooking Corpus Christi Bay. As a leading emergency facility in the Coastal Bend, it houses a Level II Trauma Center and offers a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. The facility includes a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites located in the Pavilion and North Tower. Accredited as a Chest Pain Center and by the Joint Commission Stroke Team, the hospital operates as a teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine.
This position serves as a competent Nurse within the Emergency Department and other clinical settings, practicing independently while demonstrating a comprehensive awareness of complex clinical situations. The role is designed for a professional who can provide both routine and complex care in strict accordance with patient treatment plans. You will be expected to continuously develop your ability to manage clinical contingencies, make appropriate assignments, and delegate effectively to other care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
As a member of the team, you will address the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. Your day-to-day responsibilities include administering medications and treatments using appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness, and documenting patient history and care provided. You will also play a vital role in patient education, assessing learning needs and identifying resources for patients, family members, and caregivers.
This role requires flexibility, as you may be assigned to more than one unit within the ministry. You will be expected to proactively provide assignment availability on a regular basis and meet the expectations of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, serving as a leader of self, others, or leaders.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred) and a minimum of 2 years of combined experience in the Emergency Department and one other specialty (e.g., Medsurg, Telemetry, IMC, or Critical Care). 5 years of experience is preferred. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and an active RN License in the state of employment or compact. TNCC is required for Texas and New Mexico positions, and PALS must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
