You will join the Family Birth Center at the Eisenberg facility, a hub dedicated to high-risk pregnancy situations and family-centered care. This unit operates on a couplet care model, keeping mothers and babies together 24 hours a day to promote bonding, confidence, and collaboration in caring for oneself and the baby.
The role encompasses care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, as well as their newborn babies. You will provide one-to-one prenatal education and emotional support. The unit includes an 8-bassinet newborn procedural area for medically necessary nursing observation, infant exams, circumcisions, and newborn testing. Additionally, the OB/GYN triage area, staffed by nurses and a health unit coordinator, serves as the entry point for patients and families to determine labor status or address complications.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. You will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which emphasizes planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of care. The role offers opportunities for leadership through preceptorship, formal and informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. You will also mentor and teach, delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, and patient acuity.
For new graduate nurses, please apply through the Nurse Residency Program, which is specifically designed to support your transition into professional practice. Within the application process, you may indicate work units and specialties of interest. If selected, you will meet with a Nursing Placement Coordinator to explore opportunities best aligned with your professional goals.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
