Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Surgery

About the Role

As a Nurse at CHRISTUS Health, you will practice independently within a clinical setting, demonstrating a comprehensive awareness of complex patient situations. In this position, you will provide nursing care that addresses the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. Your day-to-day responsibilities include administering medications and treatments according to established protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness, and documenting patient history and care details. A key component of your role involves assessing learning needs and providing education to patients, family members, and caregivers to ensure they are equipped to manage their health journey.

Hiring & Onboarding Process

Newly hired experienced RNs are required to attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. You will be paired with a designated, trained staff member for precepting to ensure a smooth transition. Initial onboarding requirements are validated through the successful completion of organizational entry competency validation and a Perioperative Department-specific competency validation. All associates must also complete annual competency verification requirements.

Credential Grace Periods

To support your professional growth, CHRISTUS Health provides grace periods for obtaining required certifications based on your experience level. Candidates with at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years are considered "Experienced Associates," while those without this experience are classified as "New to the Specialty."

• Experienced Associates typically have 30 days to obtain certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and Fetal Heart Monitoring, and up to 18 months for TNCC and TCAR.
• New Graduates & Associates New to the Specialty are granted extended timelines, such as 90 days for ACLS and PALS, and up to 18 months for TNCC and TCAR.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required at the time of hire with no grace period. All certifications must be obtained within the designated time frames in accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy.
