As an essential member of the patient's care team, the oncology primary nurse provides professional nursing care to patients in varying states of health and illness. The role encompasses the full spectrum of nursing practice, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing plan of care. Beyond direct clinical duties, the position involves critical care coordination, telephone triage, patient education, and preparation for continuing care during and following care transitions.
