Key Responsibilities
- check_circleProvide safe, patient-centered nursing care to neurological patients across the continuum of acuity
- check_circlePerform comprehensive assessments, monitor neuro status, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- check_circleAdminister medications, IV therapies, and treatments per provider orders and hospital protocols
- check_circleDevelop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
- check_circleCoordinate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary care
- check_circleEducate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and post-discharge care
- check_circleDocument assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- check_circleAdhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards, including stroke and neuro care protocols
- check_circlePrecept or mentor new staff and support a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement
- check_circleParticipate in unit-based councils, performance improvement, and ongoing professional development
Requirements
- verifiedCurrent Texas RN license or Compact RN license in good standing
- verifiedBLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- verifiedACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred
- verifiedNIH Stroke Scale certification preferred/required
- verifiedPrior experience in neurology, neuro step-down, ICU, or high-acuity med-surg strongly preferred
- verifiedBSN strongly preferred
Nice to Have
ACLS certification (preferred or obtained within specified timeframe), NIH Stroke Scale certification (preferred per unit policy), BSN degree (strongly preferred or obtained within hospital-defined timeframe), prior experience in neurology, neuro step-down, ICU, or high-acuity med-surg (strongly preferred)
