Who We Are

The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of Georgia to protect lives and promote healthy lifestyles in diverse communities statewide. We are committed to preventing disease, injury, and disability; promoting health and well-being; and preparing the State for responding to disasters.

The Northeast Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Clarke County Health Department. As a member of this team, you will join a passionate group of public health professionals dedicated to making a tangible impact on the lives of Georgians.

About the Role

This position serves as a vital link in providing professional nursing care to the general public. You will work under general supervision to deliver services across a wide range of programs, including immunization, WIC, Family Planning, Women's Health, Diabetes, Hypertension, STD, and TB prevention.

Your day will involve assessing patient conditions, developing care plans, providing treatments, and educating patients and families. You will also perform outreach services and key preventive health initiatives within the community. The ideal candidate excels in high-quality patient care and possesses strong computer skills to effectively manage electronic health records and digital healthcare tools.

While the role is based at the Clarke County Health Department, travel to other health departments or clinics within District 10 may be required. You will also be expected to function as part of a collaborative team, providing direct client services in a clinic setting and caring for populations with special needs during emergencies or biological and chemical protocols.

Our Culture and Benefits

We offer a dynamic and diverse team environment where employees share ideas and leverage collective strengths. Our culture is defined by active engagement and problem-solving, ensuring you can make a professional impact in the community where you live and work.

As a team member, you will enjoy workplace flexibility to be your best self, alongside opportunities for continuous learning and career longevity. We support a healthy lifestyle through physical activity breaks, a worksite wellness program, and an Employee Assistance Program. Employees are encouraged to take up to 30 minutes per day for wellness activities to support their well-being.

Hiring Process and Application

Applications are accepted online only through the posted link. Please note that due to the volume of applications, we are unable to provide information on application status by phone or email. Selected applicants will be contacted for next steps, while those not selected will not receive notification.

The position is subject to close at any time once a satisfactory applicant pool has been identified. Selected candidates may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Equal Opportunity and Accessibility

The Georgia Department of Public Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to providing access and reasonable accommodation in our services, programs, and employment for individuals with disabilities. If you require accommodations under the American Disability Act (ADA), please email your request to DPH-HR@dph.ga.gov by the closing date of this announcement.

In the event of an identified emergency, employees may be required to assist in meeting the emergency responsibilities of the department as a term and condition of employment.
